Make the relationship between price, yield, and risk tangible.
Explore fixed-income concepts through interactive analytics, guided labs, and portfolio exercises. Connect bond calculations with the decisions behind them.
Public application access is not currently live. Contact CapitalWave about demonstrations and availability.
Work with time value of money, bond calculations, yield curves, and price–yield relationships.

Teach with evidence
Use guided labs, assessments, cohort management, and gradebook exports to support instruction.
An example learning activity
What happens when the curve moves?
Price a bond, examine duration and DV01, then compare the effect of a rate change. Explain why the price response differs across maturities.
1
Establish the bond and rate assumptions.
2
Compare price and risk measures across scenarios.
3
Explain the result and its limitations.

Explore a decision with CapitalFIA.
Use fictional inputs to explore one concept. This short illustration is separate from the full product; access and demonstration availability are confirmed with CapitalWave.
Fictional bond: face value $1,000, annual coupon 5%, three years to maturity, annual compounding, valuation on a coupon date. No accrued interest, taxes, transaction costs or default risk.
Price the same cash flows at yields of 5% and 6%. Explain the direction of the price change and why repricing is different from a duration approximation.
Evidence to collect: Submit both prices, the cash-flow schedule and a short explanation of the yield sensitivity.
Illustrative expected output
Price at 5% yield
$1,000.00
Price at 6% yield
$973.27
Price change
−$26.73 (−2.67%)
A higher discount rate reduces the present value of the same promised cash flows. These are exact discounted values under the stated assumptions, not a forecast of market prices.
Calculation or decision method
P(y) = 50/(1+y) + 50/(1+y)^2 + 1,050/(1+y)^3.

CapitalFIA is the Fixed Income Analyzer. It supports exploration of bond pricing and yields, duration and DV01, curves and spreads, credit and portfolio risk. Learners can compare assumptions and explain the resulting changes rather than treating a calculated price as a recommendation.
For fixed promised cash flows, raising the discount yield reduces their present value, while lowering it increases present value. CapitalFIA activities can connect exact repricing with duration-based sensitivity. The relationship depends on the instrument and assumptions; an approximation is not the same as exact repricing.
An instructor can establish a bond and rate baseline, change a yield or curve assumption, then ask learners to compare outputs and explain sensitivity and limitations. Confirm the selected release’s labs, cohort and reporting arrangements during evaluation. The instructor decides how evidence supports course assessment.
